Day-to-Night Makeup in a Flash: 5
Products, 10 Minutes
Friday, Friday, gotta get down on
Friday…we’ve all been fans of the best
day of the week way before Miss Black made it her anthem, thankyouverymuch.
Though Monday has been touted as the day for a “fresh start”, I think Friday
marks a new sort of beginning as well – a nightlife renaissance of sorts, if
you will. Friday marks the start of yet another weekend filled with new
adventures and possibilities. Since there usually isn’t much time between
running from your day job to happy hour to wherever else the night takes you,
I’m sharing four tips for all the busy girls out there to help you stay looking
fabulous all night long. Round of drinks, anyone?!
Products you will need:
• Concealer
• Matte
Powder
• Bronzer
/ Blush
• Eyeliner
• Lip
Gloss
1. Brighten up those eyes, buttercup!
Pad a little eye cream under the
eyes to moisten, reinvigorate stale concealer, and loosen any under-eye liner
that may have gotten smudgy. Then apply a touch of concealer to just the inner
under eyes. That's where we are all darkest, and lightening that up instantly
brightens eyes. You then want to spread the concealer along the under-eye lash
line to dodge pink (or red if it has been one of those long days).
2. Mattify that face!
You would be shocked how healing
and concealing a light dusting of matte powder is. Suddenly skin appears more
even and subtly velvety. Use a sponge or fluffy brush to apply, and remember to
go into the hairline if your hair is pulled back. This is also a great trick to help with
shininess on the face! If your skin is
acting badly, you can use a pigmented powder to help with coverage!
3. Bronze and Blush
Every woman SHOULD have this duo:
a bronzy shade to wake up skin, matched with a juicy peach or pink shade to
give cheeks a healthy radiance. Do a touch of bronzer across the bridge of the
nose and lightly all over the face. On the apples of the cheeks, swirl in that
blush to give the skin that young, fresh glow and give some life to the
skin! You can even take a touch of
bronzer and smooth over your day eye shadow to deepen it for evening (depending
on how wild you’re feeling).
4. Smoke out that liner!
This is the easiest, quickest way
to add drama to your regular routine eye. Take a pewter eyeliner that has a
touch of shimmer. Pewter is great because it's not as harsh as black, but not
as soft as a brown, and the extra shimmer catches light and looks instantly
modern. Rim the entire eye very close to the lash line and smudge lightly with
your fingertip. For extra oomph, rim the inside of the lash line.
5. Golden Gloss that kisser!
It's always a great idea to have a sheer,
shimmery gold lip gloss handy. Apply over your favorite daytime lipstick or lip
liner and suddenly you're fab! For best results, look for a shade of gold
that's on the yellowy side. Remember that you're mixing it with another lip
color; too subtle of a gold and it will look muddy. Look for something
shimmery, but not glittery. You want your lips to look wet and light-catching,
not ornate and circus-y!
